Luckily, Mother Nature decided to not be difficult today. Rain was in the forecast, but it didn't rain! I decided to take advantage of this opportunity and go for a drive in the 'Vette. Seriously, I have to do this more often. Damn, was it nice. Hopefully the weather will stay nice for the next short while, since the car has to go into winter storage soon :(

Congrats

Awesome, congratulations! Driving alone is infinitely better.
...But how are you going to hoon upon the first snowfall?

Sounds awesome man!

Thanks! Yeah, I enjoyed it. Definitely fun and relaxing.
How will I hoon upon snowfall? With this beast:
Lol

Congrats, I remember my first drive by myself. Sadly, it was a 5 minute drive to school, but at least I did a one wheel peel!

Thanks! Yeah, my first was to guitar practice in my dad's VW Rabbit. Still exciting, but nothing special.

Mine was in my Dad's Trailblazer that I daily drove until I got my 4Runner(a year later). Though technically I had a few miles in a Volvo 240 when I was 12-13 and a Subaru Brat when I was 14-15, but only in a field.

Ah, I gotcha. And damn, someone in your family had a Brat? That's pretty cool.

My Dad bought it running and driving for $275 for me to learn to drive in, since we lived on 80 acres of family land, and to eventually restore. But money was tight, really tight, and he had a chance to triple what he paid for it. So it went on to a good home, to a guy that was going to restore it to factory condition. To this day, I have yet to drive something as fun. It was more fun than an FRS, Mustang GT, or RX8. It may have not been fast, but fuck would it get sideways and take a beating. I overheated that thing several times, and it never failed to start back up. It was fucking awesome and I will own another one someday.
Here is all 67 hp of fury, along with a 240 parts car we used to have.

Nice! Sucks that you had to get rid of it, but at least it went to a good home. I'm not much of a Subaru guy, but, damn, Brats are just so cool. I've always wanted one. Glad to hear they're even more kick ass than I thought.

I'm pretty happy with what I ended up with, it's slightly more practical. A bit slower and worse on gas though.

Congrats! I remember my first drive in my C4 (buying it and bringing it home); it was a day I won't soon forget!

Winter storage? What is this strange behavioral phenomenon?

Yeah, I gotcha. Not much to complain about in a 4Runner.

Thanks! Yeah, I've been waiting a while for it. Definitely won't forget it. Got any pics of your C4? I would love to see it.

Heh. I would love to use the Corvette year 'round, but Michigan winters aren't kind to any cars, and I don't want the 'Vette getting trashed.

A sample from a few friends' cameras (and don't worry, I don't actually park like that - it's at a show).

Damn! Nice!

Thanks, I'd love to see some more of yours.

Not the same quality photography as your pictures, but its all I have.

Sweet, looks clean! Best of luck with her. Looks stock? Miles? Stick/auto?
![]() 10/16/2014 at 13:48 |
|
Thanks! It's basically stock. I've put new tires on it, replaced a few bits of weatherstripping, and did some small little performance mods. Nothing too big. Other than those things, it is all original. I bought it with 68,500 miles around a year ago, and it has right around 71,000 now. Its an auto. I would have loved to have a 4+3, but I couldn't pass up the deal on this, so it works just fine for me.
What about yours? Compared to a lot of C4s, yours looks really damn clean.

Yeah, I've driven mine about as much since I bought mine last September. I just had the water pump replaced, which is a massive pain considering where it's located, and a minor clutch job early this year. Mine is a 6-speed, which is hard to find in admiral blue. And I hit 45,000 about two hours ago!
![]() 10/16/2014 at 18:55 |

Ah, I gotcha. Doesn't surprise me that the water pump was a huge pain, as that seems to be the norm for just about everything on a C4. And damn, that is a rare combination! Admiral Blue has to be one of my favorite color codes on the C4. I'm sure its a joy to drive. That's crazy low miles for that car! You can almost never find them with that low of miles anymore. I'm pretty jealous right now, to be honest.

Ha, no don't be! A friend of mine recently sold his pristine '96 CE with 12K miles on it; practically a Concours car. Sometimes the low miles come back to bite you (not wanting to put miles on it, original parts wearing out, etc.) - just enjoy your car for what you want it to do!
![]() 10/17/2014 at 11:10 |

12k miles? Damn, that's almost unheard of for any C4. Yeah, I could understand it being a little bit of a hassle. Still pretty cool, though. I'm definitely not complaining about mine by any means.

Mileage, like age, is just a number.
